Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sonya Williams is a former special education teacher of students with emotional, social, intellectual, and learning disabilities who taught for 18 years in the DMV area. She earned her Masters of Education in 2015 at Concordia University Online with a major in Curriculum and Instruction and a minor in Adolescent Literacy. Her teaching career has allowed her to expand her profession as a youth advocate, motivational speaker, success coach, and mentor. As a single mother of two children 19 and 16, she has overcome many setbacks and challenges. She strongly believes quitting is not an option. What doesn’t break you only makes you stronger! In 2017, she realized she was burnt out as a teacher and wanted to find a new path in life that would allow her to continue to exercise her strength as an educator but also impact her community.  In 2018, with a passion to pursue God’s plan for her life,

Sonya stepped out on faith and into the role as a licensed Financial Professional – Financial Empowerment Coach, and small business owner educating and empowering families and the communities through financial literacy – understanding how money works in order to make informed decisions about your finances. In 2020, she landed her own TV show on Fox 5 Plus Global TV titled Getting Fit with Your Finances. Like so many others, she found herself reinventing herself during the Covid-19 pandemic and transitioned to a new career as a final expense planner to continue to help many families protect their finances and plan for the inevitable life change of death of a loved one. She lives by Maya Angelou’s quote, “Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, do better.” Sonya firmly stands on these words of wisdom, but more importantly, she confesses God as her strength – with God all things are possible.
